  • 1 Cup Curd (Yogurt)

Dal Makhani Recipe in Hindi

Dal Makhani (Hindi:दाल मखनी) ("Lentil rich sauce") is a delicious staple food from Indian Cooking masters. The primary ingredients in dal makhani are whole black lentil (urad). It is not only popular in Indian restaurants but also globally served in International restaurants. We are going to share this simple to cook tasty recipe which is also a prominent food for vegetarians. Though its considered very difficult to cook, the Simple recipe cooking method is very easy through which you can create a tasty dish in no time. We are preparing a No Onion Dal Makhani or Jain Dal Makhni.

Serves of Dal Makhani

4 (Four)

Dal Makhani Ingredients 

Dal Makhani
  • 1 Cup Whole Black urad Dal - 200 grams
  • 2 tablespoons White Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Cream
  • 2-3 pieces of Tomato or Tomato Puree
  • 1 piece Green Chilli
  • 1/4 cup Coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Salt ( as per taste )
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dhaniya powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • Pinch of Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1 small piece of Ginger

How to Prepare Dal Makhani

  1. Wash and Soak the Whole Black Urad Dal Overnight or 4-5 hours in water.
  2. Take the Dal Makhani out of soaked water and throw away that water.
  3. Put the Dal Makhani into Pressure Cooker and add 500 ml of Water ( 3 Cups ) and add salt as per taste.
  4. Now cook the Dal for 20-25 mins on Slow gas flames.
  5. Let the Pressure Cooker cool down for 5-10 mins.
  6. Take a Kadai and add Butter and then Hing and all the other masalas ( Red Chilli , Dhaniya, Garam Masala , Ginger , Tomato puree ,Green Chilli pieces ) one after other quickly and Fry it to make a paste.
  7. Now add Cream into the Frying Pan (Kadai) and make a Good mixture.
  8. Take out the Dal out of Cooker and add it into the Frying Pan.
  9. Cook it for 5-6 mins now and then it is ready for garnishing.
  10. Garnish with cut coriander and white butter on top.
  11. Your Hot Dal Makhni is ready to serve now.

Aloo ka paratha is an Indian dish which is eaten extensively during breakfast and is also a popular snack. The best combination for this Aloo Paratha is a cup of yoghurt and some spicy and tangy pickles. It is as popular as Burger in USA :) Here is a video recipe on how to prepare a Aloo ka paratha.


You might have already seen How to make Aata / Dough Video . Follow that Video to make the Dough balls first and then you are ready to take it a step further and prepare an Aloo Paratha. This is one form of Stuffed Paratha. The other forms of stuffed paratha include Paneer ka paratha, Gobi ka paratha etc.

P.S: Aloo ka Paratha is a Calorie rich food item which is cooked with Ghee / White Butter.

There are few simple steps to be followed :

ROTI RECIPE

Roti ( रोटि ) is an Indian Bread made from wheat flour also known as atta. There are many different types of roti made from different types of flour. Here we will be discussing the simplest form of Roti. Roti is usually round in shape and cooked on a Tawa (Non Stick Flat Pan) and then on Gas. It is also known as Chapati or Tawa Roti / Sada Roti.

Ingredients for Making Roti or Indian Bread

  • 1 bowl Wheat Flour (Atta)
  • 1/2 bowl Water
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ghee (optional)

Roti Recipe : How to make Homemade Indian Bread

Roti Recipe at Home using Chakla belan
Chakla - Belan
  1. Take a large oval shape bowl and add Wheat flour and then pinch of salt
  2. Now take water and mix it in Wheat flour and make a soft dough. Add water very slowly and at same time keep mixing the whole mixture. Stop pouring water the moment the dough is soft.
  3. Now transfer the soft and moist dough into a clean surface or another flat plate
  4. Cover the dough (gunda hua atta) in a damp cloth and leave it for 15-20 mins
  5. Make small equally sized round atta balls out of the dough. You will get 4 to 6 pieces of balls
  6. Now take some extra wheat flour and keep it aside the round atta balls
  7. Take a single piece of round ball, dip it in dry wheat flour and make it into a round sized circle of 3 inch radius with a Belan on a chakla ( a wooden piece of kitchen item ). Can also use a flat dias instead of chakla and a item similar to belan to roll the aata balls. See the image.
  8. Do not add too much dry flour on aata balls to avoid dryness
  9. Heat up the Tawa and put the rolled up dough on the Hot Tawa.
  10. Roll it to other side after 30seconds with help of a Tong. 
  11. Now let it cook for 1 min. Can also use a rolled up handkerchief to puff up the roti's.
  12. Now take it of the Tawa and put it under the direct gas flame and cook it from both sides.
  13. Keep turning it on regular basis till it puffs up and is golden brown in color.
  14. Recipe for Roti on Tawa

  15. Now take it off in a plate and brush it off with a little Ghee or White butter to add to taste (Optional)

  5. Make small equally sized round atta balls out of the dough. You will get 4 to 6 pieces of balls
  6. Now take some extra wheat flour and keep it aside the round atta balls
  7. Take a single piece of round ball, dip it in dry wheat flour and make it into a round sized circle of 3 inch radius with a Belan on a chakla ( a wooden piece of kitchen item ). Can also use a flat dias instead of chakla and a item similar to belan to roll the aata balls. See the image.
  8. Do not add too much dry flour on aata balls to avoid dryness
  9. Heat up the Tawa and put the rolled up dough on the Hot Tawa.
  10. Roll it to other side after 30seconds with help of a Tong. 
  11. Now let it cook for 1 min. Can also use a rolled up handkerchief to puff up the roti's.
  12. Now take it of the Tawa and put it under the direct gas flame and cook it from both sides.
  13. Keep turning it on regular basis till it puffs up and is golden brown in color.

Gajar ka Halwa Recipe

Gajar ka Halwa in Hindi - Ingredients


    Gajar ka Halwa Recipe
  • 1 kg Red Carrot (Gajar)
  • 250 ml Milk
  • 150 grams Mawa / Khoya ( Dried Whole milk )
  • 150 grams Sugar ( or as per taste )
  • 8-10 pieces Cashewnuts ( Kaju )
  • 20-25 pieces of Kishmish ( Dried Raisin or Dried Grape )
  • 1/4 tablespoon Cardamon powder (Elaichi powder)
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee

Gajar ka Halwa Recipe with Condensed Milk Preparation Method

  1. Wash and scrub the Carrot nicely. Cut both the ends and then shred it using a medium sized grater attachment.
  2. Take a Kadai (Deep Frying Pan) and add Milk and shredded Carrot into it and mix it. Cook it for 15-20 mins till Carrot softens. 
  3. Now add sugar and stir well.
  4. Let sugar dry up completely. No water should be left in the Pan. This will take another 10-15 mins.
  5. You will notice a change in the color of carrot.
  6. Add Khoya into the Pan and mix it well. Cook this mixture for 7-8 mins. Let it dry while stirring.
  7. Once completely dry , add Ghee and Elaichi powder and mix it for 2-3 mins
  8. Garnish it with Cashewnuts and Kishmish.
  9. You are now ready to serve the Gajar ka Halwa to your guests, family or your Valentine.
Note : You can also add Milkmaid instead of Khoya, but do not add Sugar in that case.

  3. Add the Tomato and mash it
  4. Then add all the vegetables along with Kaju, Kishmish , Garam Masala and Paneer
  5. Add Rice along with 4 Bowl water now
  6. Add Salt and close the Pressure cooker or tightly lit the Pan.
  7. Cook it for 10 mins on slow gas flame
  8. Open it after 10mins and mix it and your steaming Hot Pulao is ready
  9. Serve it with Curd or Raita

How to make Bhindi ki Sabji / Bhaji 

  1. Take a frying pan or kadai and put oil
  2. Once heated , add pinch of Hing
  3. Now add Ajwain and Haldi in quick succession and add Bhindi (Lady finger). Do it quickly to avoid burning of masalas. You will here the crackling voice once you add the Ajwain and Haldi.
  4. Now add Salt and close it with a lid
  5. After 7-8 mins , Bhindi is cooked. Now add Dhaniya powder, Amchur powder and Chilli powder and mix it and cook it for another 2-3 mins.
  6. Your bhindi is ready to serve.
  7. You can serve it with Hot Parathas / Roti's

  • 200 grams White Kabuli Chana
  • 2 tablespoon Chana Masala (Make: Everest or Badshaah)
  • 1/4 tablespoon Garam Masala
  • 1/4 tablespoon Lal Mirch (Chilli Powder)
  • 1/4 tablespoon Dhaniya Powder
  • Salt (as per taste, usually 1/2 tablespoon)
  • 1 piece Onion ( Not applicable for Jain Chole )
  • 4 piece smashed Tomato ( Can also use Tomato Puree)
  • 2 piece Green Chilli
  • 1 tablespoon Tomato ketchup (to get a bit of sweetness)
  • 2 tablespoon Ghee, White butter or Sunflower Oil (Cooks better in Butter)
  • 1 small piece if Ginger/Adarak (can also use ginger paste)
  • 1/2 cup cut Coriander (for Garnishing)
  • 1 tablespoon Cream

Ingredients For Bhature for Chole Bhature Recipe

  • 400 grams Maida Flour
  • 2 tablespoon Upma Rava (to be mixed in Maida Flour)
  • 1/2 tablespoon Salt
  • 100 ml Soda Water
  • Sunflower Oil or any Fat-free Refined Oil (Bhature to be fried in this)

How To Make Chole Bhature Recipe Preparation Method

  1. Chana or Chole to be soaked in warm water for 4 hours before cooking it. Alternatively you can also put it in a pressure cooker for 1/2 an hour to soften it. Don't forget to put some salt and water when you soften it in pressure cooker.
  2. Take a frying pan , put 2 tablespoon butter/ghee , add some cut onion pieces/onion paste (not required for Jain Chole). 
  3. Now add 1/4 tablespoon Ginger paste
  4. Add some Tomato puree / Mashed Tomato
  5. Now add cut Green Chilli and Tomato Ketchup along with cream
  6. Make paste like thing and add Garam Masala, Lal Mirch, Dhaniya Powder, Chana Masala one after other.
  7. Turn the softened Chana into the Frying Pan. Make sure to add some water if there is less water in Pressure cooker.
  8. Now let it cook for 10 mins
  9. Your Chole is ready to serve now
  10. Garnish it with Tomato, Chilli and Coriander

Bhature Recipe : How to Prepare Bhature for Chole Bhature Recipe

  1. Mix Upma , Maida and 1.2 tablespoon Salt in a big oval shape bowl
  2. Add 100 ml Soda Water
  3. Add small amounts of water and knead into a firm dough. Be careful here and do not add much water
  4. Now keep the dough in a wet cloth and close it in a Box for 10-15 mins so that it softens
  5. Take a Kadai (deep cooking pot) and put some oil and let it heat up
  6. Take small loaf of the dough and roll it up in round circles and deep fry in Hot oil till its light brown from both sides.You will have to press a bit in the middle for the Bhature to puff up and also keep turning it.

Recipe of Pav Bhaji - Chatpati Bombay Version

Pav bhaji (Hindiपाव भाजी) is a fast food dish that originated in Marathi cuisine. It is native to 
Maharashtra and is popular in most metropolitan areas in India, especially in those of central and western Indian states. Pav bhaji consists of bhaji (a thick potato-based curry) garnished with coriander, chopped onion, and a dash of lemon and baked pav. The pav is usually buttered on all sides.

Ingredients for Pav Bhaji Masala


    How to make pav bhaji
  • 150 grams / 4 pieces finely cut peeled Potato's
  • 50 grams chopped cabbage
  • 1 piece chopped Capsicum
  • 1/2 cup cut Beans 
  • 1 peice cut Carrot
  • 1/4 cup Green peas
  • 1 cup chopped Tomato's
  • 1 piece cut Green Chilli
  • 100 grams butter
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • 1/2 cup chopped Coriander -For Garnishing 
  • 2-3 tablespoons Pav bhaji masala
  • 1 piece chopped Onion ( Not required for Jain Preparation)
  • 12 piece Pav or Buns
  • 2 pieces Lemon ( To be served along with Dish)

How to make Pav Bhaji

  1. Put all the finely cut vegetables ( Potato , Cabbage, Capsicum , Beans , Carrot, Green Peas) into a Pressure Cooker or a Closed Kadai(Frying Pan) and boil them for 10 mins or until they are soft. Put 1/2 cup water(vegetables should be inside water) and salt as per taste along with all vegetables.
  2. Now take a Frying Pan(Kadai) and put 20 grams butter(can also use Oil, but bhaji cooks better in butter) and heat it. Put cut Onions (not required for Jain Bhaji) until they are brown. Then put Tomato's and Green Chilli and mash it until its a thick paste.
  3. Next add 2 tablespoons of Pav Bhaji Masala into the Pan.
  4. Put the Boiled Vegetables from Pressure cooker into Frying Pan.
  5. Add 1/2 cup water in the frying pan.
  6. Let it Mix nicely for next 10mins and mash it in the process.
  7. Your Bhaji is ready to serve now.

Pav Bhaji Recipe Garnishing

  • Take the Bhaji out in a bowl and garnish it with Coriander and cut lemon pieces. You can also out 5 grams(1/2 tablespoon) of butter piece on the top of bhaji.

Pav Preparation for Pav Bhaji Curry

  • Cut the Pav(bun) in 2 pieces from the middle and bake it on a frying pan with butter till light brown.
  • Serve it with Bhaji to your family/guests.
